Manannan Mac Lir, a sea god,
belonged to an Irish mystical race
known as the Tuatha Dé Danaan. He
was a guardian of the Otherworld and
presided over Lough Foyle. The Isle of
Man was the seat of his throne and it
takes its name from him. Fragarach
"the answerer" was one of Manannan
Mac Lir's magical possessions, a sword
of wisdom, first wielded by him, and
said to cut through any armour.
