The Celtic harvest festival is named after the god Lugh or Light. It was associated with the first harvest half way between the spring and autumn equinox. It involved great celebration and a time of plenty. There were great gatherings that included religious ceremonies, ritual athletic contests. The design represents the sun and light. I designed the Lughnasa pendant using fretted silver which represents the sunshine and the golden light shining through.
