I've designed and made this chunky "flame" pendant from Sterling Silver. In the ancient Irish calendar Bealtaine - May - marked the beginning of the summer season.... great bonfires would mark a time of purification and transition, heralding in the season in the hope of a good harvest later in the year. In Medieval Ireland Bealtaine was celebrated on the central hill of Uisneach 'the mystical navel of Ireland', upon which rested a great stone Ail na Míreann said to mark the meeting point of the five provinces.
